| Fabrication shall be performed in accordance with the
latest revision of TAPP's "Quality Assurance Manual and
Specifications" and provisions of the "AISC Manual of Steel
Construction." Fabrication tolerances are listed in TAPP's
"Quality Assurance Manual and Specifications."
Welding shall be performed in accordance with TAPP's "Quality
Assurance Manual and Specifications" and the American Welding
Society's Specification D1.1 latest revision. Unless otherwise
specified, welds will be of the following type:
Base plate to pole shaft welds (over 3/16" shaft plate
thickness) are complete joint penetration (CJP).
Circumferential welds on pole shaft are complete joint penetration (CJP).
Longitudinal welds in the slip joint areas plus 6", and
within 6" of "T" joints or circumferential welds are
complete joint penetration (CJP).
Longitudinal welds other than those covered above are 80%
minimum penetration.
Mounting plate to davit arm welds (over 3/16" shaft plate
thickness) are complete joint penetration (CJP).
Connection plate to davit arm shaft welds (3/16" shaft plate
thickness) are 90% minimum penetration with sufficient sized reinforcing
fillet to develop the full yield strength of the shaft.
All other welds are a combination of fillet and bevel welds as
required by design. |
